Strategy

The activities of CADRE are based on the following main strategic aims:

  • Participatory Development
  • Leadership Training
  • Research and Analysis
  • Networks

Participatory Development

We believe that progress comes from a working together approach at the local and grass roots level. Our aim is a programme of participatory development projects with our local partners in the areas of health, education and capacity building.

Leadership Training

The lack of strong civil society organisations is an obstacle to equitable development and the democratic process. Through a leadership training programme covering community development, civic awareness, gender and other issues, the aim is to build a source of trainers who will train others in their respective communities. This will engender empowerment and effective organisation within the recipient communities.

Research and Analysis

Through its research programme in collaboration with its partners CADRE will carry out analysis on the prevailing social and economic situation, causes of and areas of potential conflict with a view to developing alternative strategies. These alternative strategies will be part of an ongoing dialogue at local, national and regional levels to seek new ways of strengthening an equitable and sustainable development process. Workshops, seminars and conferences will be held to exchange ideas, experiences and be part of the strategic development process.

Networks

CADRE is presently developing a network that will establish a Forum that will facilitate co-operation; information exchange etc. between interested parties nationally and internationally. The Forum will meet at least twice a year to formulate common initiatives on issues such as access to information technology, effect of globalisation on sustainable development, etc.
