Present ProgrammeCameroon - Update

Medical Equipment

CADRE will be sending a complete dental surgery to Banso Hospital as part of its assistance programme to the hospital. In association with DentAid,a UK based charity which provides dental equipment to developing countries, we are in the process of making preparations for the surgery to be ready for shipment, hopefully by the end of the year or early January 2003.

DentAid is presently preparing the equipment at its workshop in
Southampton. We will be visiting DentAid in the next few weeks to view the equipment and the progress of preparation work.

In recent discussions with the Director of Health Services, Professor Tih Pius Muffih, it was noted that what would help the hospital immensely is internet access. This would enable the hospital to exchange and access information and keep abreast of other developments elsewhere in the world.

This will be of great benefit to students training at the hospital. To set up the internet access and link will be in the region of £40 000. CADRE would welcome any help through donation of equipment, advice etc. to achieve this objective.

Books

FAPECAM one of our partners recently took delivery of a consignment of books for their community education project. CADRE had arranged with Book Aid International that in their next shipment to Cameroon, some books would be made available to FAPECAM. The consignment was handed to FAPECAM through the offices of Mr Andrew Nyenti at the British Council in Yaounde. CADRE will be working to get more books and planned computer equipment to FAPECAM in the near future.
