Present Programme
We are working with the following organisation in Douala, Littoral province
FAPECAM is a local grass roots organisation bringing together its members who are poor and living in conditions of bad sanitation, unclean water sources and high incidence of malaria and typhoid. They are presently engaged in trying to organise the local community to work together to address these issues.
Their immediate objectives are to sensitise the community on preventative health advice, reproductive health information and to start a works programme to deal with standing and stagnant water, which is a source of malaria. Also they are working to implement a supplementary school programme for children whose parents cannot pay for their school.
In the Northwest province through the Cameroon Baptist Convention, we have links with the Banso Baptist hospital and the Joseph Merrick Baptist College in Ndu. We are planning to assist the hospital in obtaining necessary medical equipment to continue their excellent work in the area. CADRE is aiming to provide computers to the Joseph Merrick College to enhance information technology capability.
In Maroua, Extreme North province CADRE has links with the organisation Centre Optionnel pour la Promotion et la Regeneration Economique et Sociale (COPRES), which is a local ngo working to improve the situation of rural poverty and encourage community development and empowerment. In the long term we are planning to develop an umbrella body to co-ordinate the work of all partner organisations and eventually extend it regionally. |
